LR White Embedding Kit
Product Details
Description
Activation of uncatalyzed LR White resin
Prior to use LR White resin has to be activated by adding the catalyst (9.9g Benzoyl Peroxid). After adding incubate for 24 hours at RT. After activation store at 4°C. The shelf-life is about 1 year.
Non-activated LR White can be stored at RT with a longer shelf-life.
For detailed information please see 'Catalyst Information' data sheet.
Usage of the different grades
In general, resin grades differ in their ability to transmit cutting stresses from the resin to the fixed specimen. Thereby, chattering generated by the microtome while cutting can be minimized.
The hard grade is designed for stiff tissues and specimens such as highly cross-linked polymers and demineralized bone.
The medium grade is designed to span between hard and very soft specimens.
An example of a very soft specimen would be a fixed gelatinous material such as synovial fluid.
The difference between the grades is a combination of two properties: The hardness of the resin itself and its visco-elastic characteristics. This is achieved by a fair balance of cross-linking density and backbone plasticisation.
