The Linkam Modular Force Stage was developed for the precise characterization of mechanical properties of specimens and offers high sensitivity and resolution in tensile, compressive and multi-point bending testing. The modular design allows for flexible interchangeability of grips, force ranges and heater types to optimize experimental conditions. The system supports temperature controls from -195°C to 600°C and enables testing on various sample types, from single fibres to composites. The hermetically sealed sample chamber can be purged with gas and the humidity can be regulated. Optionally, electrical sensors can be integrated.

Description

The MFS Modular Force Stage offers you the ability to precisely characterize and image a wide variety of samples. The detailed analysis of thermomechanical properties is crucial for the development of new materials that meet the requirements of demanding environments, from medical applications to space. The MFS can be used in reflected and transmitted light as well as other popular techniques such as X-ray, Raman and FT-IR. In addition, the sample chamber can be purged via integrated gas ports. Modules for humidity control and electrical contacts are optionally available.

The system consists of the MFS stage, a T96-S temperature controller and LINK software for PC control. For applications below ambient temperature, an LNP96 liquid nitrogen pump is available as an option. 
 

Main functions

Compression and tensile force measurement: Test the compression and tensile force of your sample as a function of temperature and capture high-resolution images of structural changes. 
Wide control parameters: Speed, movement and force can be adapted to temperature and environment.

Distance measurement with encoder: A high-resolution encoder measures changes in length, with double threaded spindles holding the position of the specimen centrally. 
Modular design: Easy exchange of handles, force beams, heaters and covers allows adaptation to a wide range of sample types.

Humidity control: The RHGen unit allows you to precisely control relative humidity.

Customize your system

Linkam's MFS Modular Force Stage offers a variety of modular components that allow you to customize the system specifically for your mechanical characterization experiments. Modules include heated and unheated base plates, electrical connections, humidity options and heated liquid cells. A wide range of force beams are available, including an extra sensitive 2N beam for single fibre and a 600N beam for structural composite testing. There are also numerous customized modules and grip options.  
 

Graphical Data

Analyse the mechanical properties of your samples with LINK software. Combine it with the LINK imaging module for in situ visualisation of your samples throughout your experiment. 
Real-time graphs are displayed while the experiment is running. You can visualise your data in both temperature-time and force–distance graphs and export for more detailed analysis.
